When benchmarked against conventional discovery tools, SecureFusion Asset Discovery is more than 300 times faster with greater accuracy and no network impact. SecureFusion’s speed enables organizations to maintain a near real-time inventory and quickly identify rogue technologies. SecureFusion also has the unique ability to discover networks prior to identifying hosts and network services. As a result, SecureFusion Asset Discovery runs unattended, identifying new sub-networks, hosts and services automatically as the network changes and expands.

How does it work?

SecureFusion Asset Discovery is a high-speed active scanning technology. It does not require the installation of agents, the deployment of sensors, access to span ports or the installation of network taps. Most organizations simply deploy a single, centrally located discovery scanner, which can find up to 50,000 assets per day. The discovery scanning process and results are all managed within the SecureFusion Portal.

Scheduling

Using the SecureFusion Portal, you can control the scanning and data collection processes. Detailed scheduling can be implemented by network, business unit, location, time of day and date. Recurring processes only need to be scheduled once. The SecureFusion Portal incorporates blacklisting, bandwidth throttling, role-based access, and other command and control capabilities.

Scanning

Our asset discovery process is not limited to hosts. Rather, it identifies and catalogues your global networks, hosts, operating systems, and network services or applications. When combined with additional SecureFusion modules, you will have a full suite of asset management and risk management capabilities built on a comprehensive, self-updating inventory of enterprise assets.

Asset Classification and Categorization

All assets can be classified and categorized according to your organization’s classification standards or by key areas of interest, such as regulated information stores or groups of assets. Classes and categories can be assigned to any networks or hosts for more accurate and focused reporting and auditing.

Discovering Rogue Technologies

While SecureFusion Asset Discovery is cataloguing the assets within your organization, it is also identifying and flagging potential rogue technologies. Our Asset Discovery module learns how to differentiate between rogue and authorized assets as it scans, based on your feedback. We have proven the ability to discover many types of rogue technologies including non-company laptops, wireless access points, peer-to-peer file sharing applications, Trojan horses, unauthorized software and unmanaged hardware.

Responding to Specific Threats

In addition to typical, recurring discovery scans, SecureFusion Asset Discovery has proven invaluable when responding to specific threats, worms or viruses. For example, you can perform a one-time scan for a specific port or application to identify hosts at risk of a worm outbreak. If an outbreak has already occurred, you can discover affected hosts across your enterprise in a matter of minutes instead of days.

Reporting

The SecureFusion Portal features graphical and statistical-based reporting on all asset and security data to present multi-dimensional views for different audiences. Assets are automatically broken down and reported by platform, business unit, location, class and category. The portal also features keyword searches on all data and dynamic report builders for specific data requirements on the fly.
